I was born in Southern California to a pair of missionaries as they were leaving the mission field. As I was growing up, my parents became educators. When I was 10, we moved to Omaha, Nebraska. In Nebraska, I grew up helping my mom set up her classroom during summer breaks and going to basketball games for the college where my dad taught. They raised me to value education and find ways to serve the people around you.

My passion for music and expression led me to study Vocal Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I met a man named Cameron Johnson (that’s an important clue that will help us later). From there, I spent a year teaching toddlers in an Omaha daycare before moving to New York. I spent a year singing in a church choir and working as a catering server. After the pandemic, I moved back to Nebraska and eventually found work as an administrative assistant to accountants. I reconnected with that old college friend, Cameron, who became my husband. He worked for a little company called Garmin and I moved down to Olathe, Kansas to marry him.

We are lucky enough to be surrounded by family and siblings who are starting to settle in and dream of starting families. The future is open and full of questions, and I want to make sure it is as bright as possible.

I continued to work for the company in Omaha remotely, so I needed a way to get out of the house and involved in the community. We found a church home, I joined a book club, and I started to get involved in local organizations like Loud Light to learn more about Kansas local politics. I learned that the power really lies with the community to make local and lasting change. Where I had originally used my voice for music, I found I could use it to speak with those around me about how to make change here in Kansas, instead of waiting for change to come from DC.

This year, I became inspired to take that passion to Topeka. Our community deserves more opportunities to feel seen and heard by their representatives. I want to give District 26 more choice. If you choose me, I want to be your voice in the State House.
