Education

One of government’s core responsibilities is pooling our collective resources to make our communities stronger, safer, and smarter. Public schools are the best example of this. For years, Kansas has failed to fully fund our public schools’ special education programs. This causes local districts to pull resources from other areas, impacting all students. My goal in the Kansas State House is to work with other legislators to ensure we are fully investing in our children’s futures.

Health

Since moving to Kansas, I have personally seen the best and the worst of our healthcare system. When given access to preventative care, we are able to not only survive, but grow and thrive. However, too few have access to affordable care at all, much less preventative visits. Lines are long, and rural hospitals are increasingly at risk of closing. Our community is stronger when we are taking care of each other. I want to work for greater balance between investing in Kansas healthcare, expanding Medicaid, and making sure medical decisions are made by medical professionals, not corporate interests.

Data Centers

Kansans know best how to use, treasure, and protect Kansas land. Economic growth can be good for local communities, but we cannot allow outside interests to pursue rapid growth with no local input or accountability to how it will affect our communities and environment. Growth cannot come at the cost of our children’s health and the wellbeing of our farmland. In the Kansas House, I want to work to find solutions that do not sacrifice what is precious in the pursuit of what is new. We must find solutions where those who would use our resources must ensure they are giving as much back to the community as they are using.
